Hi, I’m Glenda. This coat was made from a wedding ring quilt, gifted to my husband and I the year we were married (54 years ago). The quilt was made by my paternal grandmother. We slept under this quilt for years until we changed from a full to a queen sized bed. It was well-loved and used. My daughter searched for a pattern and found a very old pattern in an antique mall. It was hard to make that first cut, but after that it was so wonderful to take our quilt out of the closet where it was not being shared or used. I had to repair several places that were worn through to the batting. The fabric as you might expect, is feed sacks and leftover cottons from other garments , and muslin for the cream background.
Thanks!

So beautiful!!! I love the Double Wedding Ring quilt pattern anyway, and this is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen done with a much loved, treasured quilt. Thank you so much for showing us.
