I’m Carrie Cook from Appleton, Wisconsin. May Cook, my Mother-in Law, was born and raised in Appleton and lived to be 97! When she passed, I asked my Sisters-in-Law if I could have a thimble of May’s and some of her hankies. Here are May’s hankies in the quilt!
Each hankie is appliquéd on a white backing with the top pieced. The light blue fabric is Sugar & Spice by Pearl Krush of Pearl Louise Designs from the Riverwoods Collection. The quilt is loosely based on Rose Cottage Quilts, “Simply Hankies, Too!” pattern.
The quilt has double batting inside and was beautifully quilted by Wendy Fuller of Dynamic Stitches in De Pere, WI and I pieced the top.
Made in memory of May B. Cook with love — 1919 – 2016
Thanks!
Carrie

The double batting really gives your quilt dimension. The hankies are so pretty and your color choices are spot on. A beautiful memento- to be sure.
Beautiful work!
