My name is Cayse Babcock. I’m 70 years old, live in San Luis Obispo, CA and I love to sew clothing. But I’ve recently started sewing American Girl Doll outfits to donate to local school fundraisers. I made several outfits for my neighbor’s daughter and her mom came back and asked if I’d make something for her school auction. I made several outfits with shoes and bags etc. The whole batch went for a whopping $175. It made me so happy I decided to make more for another school. With this ensemble I made the shoes too and lined them to match the jacket and jumper.
The backpack is also lined with matching fabric. It was a fun project and I plan to do many more. I used several different patterns for all the pieces. It can all be done from scraps. This was from leftover scraps from clothes I’d made for a toddler. It’s really fun to do. All items I make have a tag in them I had made that says “Love Mama”. I had run out of the classic “Made for you by “ “ and quickly embroidered one on a ribbon when I made an outfit for my grown daughter. She loved it, so I kept the moniker and had labels made which makes it fun too.
Here are the patterns I used for the doll clothes: Vogue 9866 for the overall jumper, Vogue 9832 for the backpack, Butterick 4699 for the blouse under the jumper, McCalls 7006 for the pants, white top with blue buttons and jacket, McCalls 3469 for the sneakers and I added a foam core sole with the foam band around it (purchased the foam core and foam to make the band at Hobby Lobby). I have a KamSnap rivet installer and use KamSnap rivets and snaps. I bought the daisy clips for the overall dress at Hobby Lobby and painted the center blue to match the outfit.
Best regards,
Cayse Babcock

Cayse- these are adorable!
Cayse, this set of mix-and-match doll clothing is so cute! The fabrics used are sturdy and will hold up well for lots of dolly play. Lucky little someone!
