Hello! My name is Ann Sciabarrasi & I live in Westminster, MA., USA. I have been sewing since childhood. It is my joy & my therapy! I sewed garments for years. Hand quilting caught my interest when I sustained a back injury & had to spend time in a recliner. When I recovered, I joined a quilt guild & found it extremely interesting & a great way to meet people.
When the covid pandemic resulted in staying at home, I sought something to sew that might bring joy to others. I made a child’s quilt, then a fabric doll with clothing to coordinate with the quilt, then a matching quilt for the doll. At one point, I ran out of batting so I started making drawstring backpacks to go with the dolls. My husband names them. (We are coming close to the end of our 3rd round through the alphabet.)
I don’t use patterns, but have developed my own. I sew on either my Bernina 440QE or on my 1950 featherweight. The dolls & quilts are all gifted to either specific children who are ill or to an organization that provides gifts to children in foster care. (For example, a doll with a removable wig for a child who is losing her hair from chemo. A boy doll with a trach for a boy making his first trip home from the hospital.)
Thanks!
Ann

What a lovely thing to make and gift!
The dolls and quilts by Ann Sciabarrasi are so sweet! What a fantastic way to use her talents. I hope she doesn’t mind, but I intend to copy her methods and make some dolls and quilts for charity in the Chicagoland area.
Thanks for sharing, Ann!
These are absolutely beautiful, Ann!!
How charming your dolls are. They have such personality!
