Hi, I’m Heidi! I am an art quilter and I use beads on most of my quilts. I’ve been making these beaded ornaments for a number of years to sell or give as gifts or as a thank you around the holidays. They are one-of-a-kind little gems that take a lot of time to create but always seem to turn out lovely.
I choose two pieces of themed or unique print fabrics with a piece of heavyweight stabilizer (like Timtex) in between. They are machine stitched and then complimentary yarns are twisted together and zigzag stitched around the edge—one of my favorite parts of the process. Then I bead them front and back, top and bottom and sometimes on the sides! Each one has a little beaded hanger at the top.
It can be frustrating doing the handwork as the thread always catches on the other beads or the corners and you have to hide knots and jump stitches inside the stabilizer, which can be tricky. Patience and stubborn will gets them done! I only make a limited number and not every year, but when I do make them people seem to really enjoy them. I made 14 this year and have only two left!

Happy Holidays!
