Hi, I’m Jacqueline. My granddaughter, Tun’aqi, is Yupik. She asked me to make a quilt for her wedding in July, 2024. She and her husband would be wrapped in it during the ceremony.
I chose the Deco pattern from Lo & Behold Stitchery. Tun’aqi also wanted a block to represent her Piluruq which is a traditional pattern. I asked Tara Faughnan to design the pattern for me, which I incorporated into the final project. Tun’aqi selected the colors: oranges to represent her love of sunrises and sunsets, glacier blue to represent her husband’s love of water and coconut white and black for her Piluruq.
The bed sized quilt was machine quilted by Linda Rice Weaver.
Thank you!
