Hey there, sewing friends! I’ve been having the best time diving into color theory fun and have started playing with solids. I have fallen in love with Colorworks Northcott Solids. If you haven’t tried them yet, you’re in for a treat. These fabrics are buttery soft, vibrant, and an absolute dream to sew with. Whether you’re a quilter, garment maker, or bag enthusiast, Northcott solids deserve a spot in your fabric stash. They come in 241 different colors! My current faves that are going in a new project are Lipstick and Caribbean Sea. (Both are pictured below. I’m going for a 1950’s retro vibe!)

You can find these two Northcott Solids, plus the entire line of 241 colors by clicking here!
The Quality Difference
Northcott is known for their tagline, “Cotton that feels like silk,” and they mean it. Their solids have a smooth, luxurious hand that sets them apart. They also have a tight weave and minimal fraying, which means they hold up beautifully through cutting, piecing, and quilting. Plus, they resist fading, so those rich colors stay just as stunning after multiple washes.

I had a hard time picking which colors to highlight because they are all so beautiful! These are three of the brighter choices, but there are also pastels and rich jewel tones too. You can find the whole collection here!
Color, Color, Color!
Northcott offers an incredible range of colors (241! And they’re all available here!!), from soft pastels to bold brights and deep, moody hues. Whether you’re matching a print, going for a monochromatic look, or diving into color play with a gradient quilt, there’s a shade for you.

Why You Should Give Them a Try
If you’ve been loyal to another solid fabric brand, I get it—we all have our favorites. But Northcott solids are worth a test drive. They’re soft without being slippery, sturdy without being stiff, and they piece like a dream. Whether you’re working on a traditional quilt, a modern masterpiece, or even apparel, they’re a joy to sew with.
Anyway, I just wanted to share one of my new favorite fabric lines. I hope you love them as much as I do!
‘Til next time, happy sewing!
