Lately, the weather has been up and down. Some days feel like fall has fully arrived and others still hang on to summer. I keep looking out the window, daydreaming about cozy sewing days while the leaves blow around. The truth is, I have more than one project calling my name right now. Honestly, it’s driving me a little crazy! I’ve always been a one-project-at-a-time kind of quilter, but when gorgeous fabric and irresistible patterns show up, how can anyone possibly say no?
That’s why I’m especially excited for a three-day retreat with some of my quilting friends this month. I’m hoping the focused time away will help me finish (or at least make a dent in) the pile of projects I’ve got going. There’s something about setting aside those dedicated hours that makes the sewing so much more productive and fun!

Have you ever attended a sewing or quilting retreat? If you haven’t, I highly recommend it. Not only do you get uninterrupted time to sew, but the laughter, encouragement, and inspiration from fellow quilters are priceless. Retreats are a chance to learn, grow, and really immerse yourself in the craft we all love.

If you’re looking for the perfect spot, the retreat center at Missouri Star Quilt Co. is a dream come true. There’s plenty of room to spread out and sew all day, and when you need a break, you’re just steps away from MSQC’s quilt shops. The center has everything you could need – comfortable sleeping accommodations, a kitchen, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to create from sunup to sundown. It’s truly a quilter’s haven, and I can’t wait to dive in headfirst with my stack of projects. I’ll keep you posted on how much I get done. The only downside to a retreat is that it’s easy to get too chatty and forget to sew!
