Hello all! My name is Barbara Wright. I am retired and live in Troutville, Virginia.  I recently took up quilting, but have sewed almost all my life for my children, my home and myself. I only have a sister left in our immediate family and when she told me about a trip she has plans for, it gave me a reason to make something special for her.  I found the “Get Out of Town” weekend travel bag pattern by Annie and jumped in.

I’m in love with Kaffe Fassett fabric and since she loves purple, I used the Japanese Chrysanthemum purple and I love how it turned out.  I machine quilted the fabric and sewed it using strapping I found instead of fabric handles.  I thought the strapping might wear better.  Since then, I’ve made 2 more and have the 4th on the table ready to go.  I also made a pouch with scraps to match the bag.   I hope you like it as much as we do!
