Summer keeps humming along – sunny days, iced coffee on repeat, and about six mosquito bites I didn’t ask for. But despite the itchiness, I’ve been having the best time planning my next big project. Last week I told you I was gearing up to start the Farmer’s Wife quilt, and guess what? The fabric decision has officially been made! Cue the confetti (and maybe a seam ripper or two just in case).
You can read last week’s post here. And yes, I know. I didn’t choose any of last week’s options. I went rogue. It’s the story of my life.
First, a huge thank you to everyone who emailed, messaged, and chimed in with fabric ideas. You all are the absolute best! It was so fun hearing what you’d choose! After all that back and forth, I finally landed on something that makes my vintage-loving heart skip a beat: I’m diving into the new Northcott Colorworks Premium Solids line and playing with shades that remind me of a 1950s kitchen. Turquoise, teal, and cherry red? Yes please!

These are some of the shades of Northcott Colorworks I bought for Farmer’s Wife – everything from Lipstick to Caribbean Sea! I can’t wait to make the first block! You can shop this fabric line by clicking here.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the 1950s. The architecture, the color palette, the clothes (hello, circle skirts!), and the mid-century furniture. I love it all! So, it felt totally right to channel that same energy into this quilt. I mixed several hues from the Northcott Solids collection to create a palette that feels both fresh and nostalgic. And because I can’t resist a good print, I sprinkled in a few reproduction fabrics to give it that extra touch of charm.
The nice thing about the Northcott Colorworks line is how many shades of every color there are to choose from. This line seriously covers them all! If you like to play with color, then you’ll love it.
Check out these fabrics! Aren’t they dreamy? I keep imagining the finished quilt draped over a Formica table, maybe next to a bowl of Jell-O salad. (Too far? Nah.) The mix of solids and prints is giving me all the right vibes, and I’m honestly counting down the minutes until I can cut into them.

I added some adorable prints in with the solids. Stay tuned for the first block next week!
I’m starting the Farmer’s Wife quilt this weekend, so wish me luck – and maybe keep your phone nearby in case I need emotional support during block #12. I’ll keep you posted on my progress. Feel free to jump in on this journey and start your own Farmer’s Wife quilt! We can navigate it together! I hope you’re stitching something this summer that brings you joy (and maybe a little nostalgia too). Stay tuned!
