I’m officially knee-deep in my Farmer’s Wife quilt, and friends—I am having a blast! The color palette of turquoise and red is making my heart sing every time I sit down to sew. There’s just something about those vintage-inspired shades that feels so cheerful and classic. Here are some photos of my finished blocks below. Aren’t they so cute?

It’s been a minute (okay, three years) since I last did any paper piecing, and let me tell you, it’s humbling to get back in the game. After finishing my Jane Stickle quilt, I thought I could paper piece teeny-tiny blocks in my sleep. Ha! Turns out, a break means the muscle memory isn’t entirely what it used to be. A few of these blocks have really made me stop and think—but honestly, I love that. It’s part of what makes this project so rewarding.

There’s something really satisfying about slowing down, puzzling over a tricky corner, and figuring it out. I’m reminded why I enjoy challenging myself with these more intricate patterns. Every finished block feels like a tiny victory (and yes, I’m celebrating each one with a happy dance in my sewing room).
I can’t wait to see how this quilt comes together over the next few months. The blocks are already starting to feel like old friends, and each one is bringing me closer to a finish I know I’ll be so proud of. Stay tuned—there’s lots more stitching (and probably a little seam ripping) to come!
