What to Wear While You Quilt
Let’s also take a minute to mention clothing to wear while you’re actually sewing and quilting. Comfort and functionality are key when you’re sitting at your sewing machine for hours or standing to cut fabric. Being comfortable is a given, but have you considered wearing an apron while you’re sewing? Aprons are a fantastic addition to your “sewing uniform!” They protect your clothing from the stray threads and precut “dust” but also provide you with pockets! Yay for pockets! If you’re constantly laying down your scissors or seam ripper and then can’t find them five minutes later, pockets are for you! Find an apron with nice deep pockets and get in the habit of sliding your scissors, rotary cutter (locked shut of course), seam ripper, etc into your pocket. It is a great feature and totally a time saver!
You can find it by clicking here!
And what about shoes? Do you always “drive” barefoot? A lot of sewists and quilters always run their sewing machines with bare feet, while others insist of shoes. There isn’t a right or wrong way, but no matter which way you prefer, you might want to wear a pair of quilting socks. How cute are these socks?! Shop for quilting socks here!
Happy quilting, and may your wardrobe always reflect the creativity and joy of your craft!

The first item I made on my (new-to-me) Singer 27 treadle machine from 1910 was a sewing apron. I made it so it looked like a Tudor style womans gown. It does help to keep sewing poop (bits of thread, etc.) off my clothes.
