Hi, sewing friends! Today we are going to talk about cats. We love them for their sass, their snuggles, and their ability to turn the sewing room into their personal playground. They keep us company while we stitch away – sometimes by curling up in the coziest chair and sometimes by claiming the longarm like it’s their very own hammock. (Surely my cats aren’t the only ones that do that?) And of course, every quilter knows the irresistible urge cats have to sprawl across freshly cut fabric on the cutting table. It’s just part of the charm of having a feline sewing buddy.
I have mentioned my cats before in my posts, but I have updates. I now own four cats and am currently keeping my oldest daughter’s two cats until they get moved into their new house. So for right now I have SIX cats! I know that may sound insane to some of you, but they are all very healthy, happy little kitties that have been rescued. The oldest one will soon be 18 and her name is Eloise. Then there are Lulu and Roxanne, who like to spend the summers outside and the winters inside. Then there is Baby Cat, a beautiful calico I rescued three months ago from the side of the road. My daughter’s cats are Teddy Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt. Don’t tell my daughter, but I think they want to stay at my house forever. They love their new cat family here. If you have cats, give a shoutout in the comments with their names and personalities! I’d love to hear all about them!

Cat Projects
Since so many of us love our whiskered friends, it’s no wonder that cat projects are always a hit! Sewing something featuring cats feels like a way of celebrating the joy they bring to our lives. Whether you love making quilts, embroidery projects, or even fun little accessories, there’s a cat-themed project out there just waiting for you to stitch it up.

I love these three cat-themed quilt patterns! The Christmas ones are my favorite. You can find all four by clicking here or visiting Missouri Star Quilt Co.!

Check out these adorable cat projects. They are door banners for your front door and you can make one for each month of the year. They are all so cute! You can find them here!
Cat Fabric
Cat quilts are especially popular. From playful pieced designs that form a parade of kitties to appliqué patterns where each cat has its own personality, there are endless ways to sew up something adorable. Cat-themed fabric is also a quilter’s dream. It’s easy to find prints full of paw prints, whiskers, and playful silhouettes to work into your next creation.

Need cat fabric? How cute are these? Love, love, love! Find these and more by clicking here!
Not a cat person? That’s okay! Maybe you’d rather stitch up a dog sewing project instead. After all, every pet deserves a little spotlight in the sewing room.
‘Til next time! Happy sewing!

I would like to know where to get the pattern with the bordered 4 Patch, Pinwheel and Focus blocks (above top right with the cats). Thank you.
Hi Robin! The link to the pattern is right under the photos. It says “find all four by clicking here.”
It takes me to 5 pages of some patterns but mostly fabric. And what I thought was a pattern, looks to be only yardage (cheater cloth?). I am not a cat person and wanted to replace the cat blocks with something else. I am not finding a pattern.
i currently have 4 cats. top count was 5 (and usually 4 dogs- 2 mine, 2 daughter’s). cats are all rescues too. nothing new, we have always had multiple fur babies.
Ollie Smitten was a drive-by dumped kitten at the park, rescued by my daughter before i could even say no!. what a tiny mess he was.
Everest and K2 (our climbing, love high places cats) were feral offspring from a garden client’s house when they moved,
and Bob (a manx, lol) adopted me as a last ditch effort by jumping into the car at the state park and refusing to leave. ( the guy knew he was not going to spend the winter in a cold, empty campground!)
can’t imagine a house without them… wouldn’t be home!! they bring so much joy.
(oh, and they LOVE quilts. my biggest fans)
