If you’re new around here, welcome! I’m Beth Cooper, and I write for Nancy’s Notions. I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately from new subscribers about where to buy products and how our website works, so I thought I’d take a moment to clear things up. And honestly, it gives me a chance to talk about something I love – this community of makers and the legacy of Nancy herself.

First, let me say how much we all miss Nancy. When Nancy Zieman passed away in 2017, the sewing and quilting world lost someone incredibly special. She was adored by so many, not just for her talent and knowledge, but for the warmth and encouragement she brought to everything she did. Nancy’s passion was always education – teaching, inspiring, and helping people find joy in sewing and quilting. That’s the heart of what Nancy’s Notions continues to be today.
After Nancy’s passing, her family sold the business, and a couple of years later, in 2020, Missouri Star Quilt Co. purchased Nancy’s Notions. The transition turned out to be a wonderful match. Now, Nancy’s Notions is completely focused on sewing and quilting education. If you’re here to learn, you’re in the right place! We’ve built up close to a thousand articles about every sewing and quilting topic you can imagine, plus free patterns to spark your creativity. I like to think of it as flipping through a really great sewing or quilting magazine – only it’s online, and it never runs out of pages.

There are two great ways to explore the website: 1. Choose a category and scroll through. Categories are located at the top of the home page. 2. Type something you’re interested into the search bar at the top. Looking for help making pants? Type pants. Looking for help with your sewing machine tension? Type tension into the search. Chances are we have a helpful article for whatever you are looking for.
Where Do I Buy Products? Where Is The Shopping?
So what about products? Here’s the scoop: when you’re ready to shop for notions, fabric, or supplies, all of those sales happen through our sister site, Missouri Star Quilt Co. The education side lives here at Nancy’s Notions, and the shopping side lives there. Click here to shop. And no worries, every Nancy’s Notions article has links to products that correspond with the topic. Between the two websites, you’ve got everything you need: inspiration, instruction, and all the tools to bring your projects to life.
I hope that helps clear up some of the confusion. I’m so glad you’re here, and I can’t wait for you to dive in and explore all the fun things we have on Nancy’s Notions. Trust me, you’ll want to grab a cup of coffee and settle in for a while.
‘Til next time! Happy sewing!
Beth
