Have you ever read a choose-your-own-adventure story? You know, the ones where you get to pick the ending? I used to LOVE those books when I was younger! “Was Cathy rescued from the mountain? If yes, turn to page 17. If no, turn to page 30.” Sometimes I feel like my sewing room is a choose-your-own-adventure book. “Will Beth continue to piece the green quilt? Or will she move over to the longarm? Will Beth finish that binding today?” There are so many options that could play out! And every bit of it is fun!
I definitely sew in spurts. One day it’s piecing quilt tops like there’s no tomorrow. All I want to do is piece, piece, piece. Everything else is put on the back burner. But then suddenly, I might tire of that and decide I’m only going to quilt for awhile. The longarm is oiled and ready to go and then I quilt one top after the other. Other days? You’ll find me curled up in a cozy chair, lost in the slow, sweet rhythm of hand embroidery.
Are you like that too? Do you find yourself diving deep into one kind of project for a while, then suddenly switching to something totally different? I like to think of it as the natural rhythm of being a maker – following the flow of whatever feels exciting and fresh in the moment. After all, sewing and quilting are supposed to be fun, not homework!

No matter which path I take, the best part is knowing that creativity is waiting for me around every corner. So whether I’m piecing, quilting, embroidering, or just happily organizing my fabric stash (yes, that counts as an adventure too!), there’s always another story to stitch.

I hope you all have a great week! Find something creative to do and have fun!
‘Til next time! Happy sewing!
Beth
