Hi! My name is Susan Gill and this is my version of a stairway quilt. I made it for very good friends who have had a blank wall above their staircase for 28 years because they couldn’t find a wall hanging they could both agree on.
I made this quilt using the 6-inch Accuquilt Crazy Quilt Block. I used twenty different fabrics including several batiks and various other cottons. I quilted it by outlining each piece in each block with coordinating thread.
The inspiration came from a similar hanging I saw on Facebook, that was created by quilter Leah Fisher, who has since became a good friend (even though we live about 1200 miles apart). We’ve never met in person, but communicate almost daily, sharing our lives and love of creating, sewing, and quilting
This quilt was definitely a labor of love for my friends of 40+ years. It was also my most ambitious project yet.

This is a stunning quilt; the colors are amazing! What a creative way to use the Accuquilt 6″ crazy die as well. I want to try something like this. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of art.
This is truly a work of art! I have the 6″ crazy die from Accuquilt and this is such a beautiful way to use it. You have inspired me with your choice of magnificent colors. I love bold, and symmetry too.
I think is gorgeous. I love all the colors. Very interesting and unique. I don’t have a staircase, I can imagine how it would be boring to have a blank wall.
What a great idea.
The Staircase quilt is simply stunning. The colors & patterns are mesmerizing. Is that block only available with an Accuquilt machine?
I love the staircase quilt
You are certainly a wonderful friend ! This quilt is, as others have said, “simply stunning” ! Bravo !
