Top 3 Fast & Fun Gift Idea Tutorials

by Beth Cooper

Are you looking for a fast and fun sewing project?  Maybe you need a quick gift idea?  Check out these Top 3 Fast and Fun Gift Ideas!

Idea Number One

  1.  Pioneer Woman Placemat Bag – These bags are made with Pioneer Woman placemats, found at Walmart.  They can be made using any other placemat or quilted rectangle, as well.  There are many different projects made from these placemats on YouTube, so be sure to search through them.  Lorrie Nunemaker has a whole series of placemat project tutorials. This particular one is so fun, turns out beautifully, and makes a great gift for anyone.

Instead of using a premade placemat, consider making your own placemat first. This Kindness Always line of fabric by Riley Blake is just gorgeous! It would make the absolute cutest little bag!

Kindness Always by Jessi Raulet of EttaVee for Riley Blake, available here.

Idea Number Two

2. Tote Bag – Who doesn’t need a tote bag, right?  Everyone can find a use for a bag and this tutorial makes sewing one a total breeze!  The hardest part of making one of these is deciding which fabric you’re going to use!  Rosery Apparel makes it so easy to follow along and Janelle is a great instructor. In this tutorial, she teaches four different projects. The tote bag starts around the 4:40 mark. (The other three projects are fantastic, too!)

These fabrics from the Woodland Keeper line by Maureen Cracknell for Art Gallery Fabrics are perfect for the tote bag! They are modern, yet timeless. Shop for yardage here.

Idea Number Three

3. A Child’s Apron – Do you have a special little someone in your life that could use an apron?  These aprons make adorable gifts!  This tutorial is definitely a favorite and very easy to follow along – there is also a free pdf pattern, as well. Aprons make a fantastic birthday gift or Christmas present! Tamara from Tamara’s Joy will have you making one apron after another!

Barbie fabrics would certainly make an adorable apron! Shop the collection here.
Want to make an apron that isn’t super girly? The tutorial above can be easily squared up, instead of oval shape, forget the lace, and use this adorable dinosaur fabric
(or something else your little cutie-pie will love)! Roar!
Shop for Stomp Stomp Roar here!

You are going to enjoy making these easy and fun sewing projects! They’re going to be so cute, you’re going to want to keep them! And that’s okay, too. 🙂
