Hello, I love to see the quilts others make and thought these were special enough to submit. I’m Beverly Mannes, I live in Dacula, Georgia. I have been quilting about 50 years, part time when I was working, now full time after retirement.
My Mountain Laurel Quilters’ Guild in Cornelia, GA has an active Quilts of Valor bee that makes a lot of quilts for veterans. Someone donated this kit to our group and I was asked to construct it. I was intimidated by all those diamonds, but took my time (4.5 weeks) with LOTS of pins and finished it. I passed it to LuAnn Luedtke in our guild who took an intermittent month to free-motion custom quilt it on her 18 inch sit-down Janome Artistic machine. It will be used as a raffle quilt in 2025 to raise money for the Northeast Georgia QOV group since it is too large to wrap around a veteran.
The kit is the 2017 Blazing Star Block of the Month, designed by Nancy McNally using Boundless Blenders Aura fabric by Craftsy. I hope to get permission from Craftsy to show it in the AQS show in Paducah in April 2025.
I had enough scraps to make a smaller Parade Rest quilt using a Fons and Porter pattern. The two-tone colors were perfect for this pattern. Another friend, Theresa Pruitt quilted it for me. It will be wrapped around a veteran in November.

It is gorgeous! My Mom, Bev Mannes is so talented! So proud of her work and her too! I know whatever Veteran’s receive them will cherish them! But, not as much as I cherish her!
That’s so sweet! Your mom is definitely very talented! We are thrilled she shared her project!
Just stunning…
