Hello, my name is Julie Burkhardt and I live in Cedar Falls, Iowa. I have been retired for 7 years and have finally found the best job I have ever had…retirement! My best friend treated me to a trip to MSQC for a retirement gift!
I love to make quilts and have a huge sewing room with shelves and cupboards holding and hiding my stash. During 2021, I decided to make a quilt a week and I could not buy any fabric until September. I ended up with 57 quilts and did not step foot in a quilt shop until September 1st. I was in deep withdrawal at that point.
I donate quilts to our local Hospice and hospital, along with donating fabrics to our church for mission quilts (I sort through my stash every year).
This is the quilt I made after visiting my sister in Arizona. I wanted to make something that would remind me of my visit. I loved it so much that I made a smaller version for my sister. The colors are soothing!

Julie’s quilts are absolutely stunning! I had to chuckle about how long she could quilt without ‘hitting bottom’ of her stash.
