Happy summer, sewing friends! I hope you’re all having wonderful weather and working on lots of fun sewing projects! It’s been non-stop around here. I’m not sure where June went and July is flying by, as well. We had a wonderful 4th of July holiday with friends, lots of pies, amazing food, and of course, fireworks. I am knee-deep into my Farmer’s Wife Quilt. I’ll post more updates on that soon. And my flowers this year are absolutely amazing! I’m in love with them.

So, I was scrolling through the Missouri Star Quilt Co. website yesterday and came across this candle. The fragrance is “Fabric Shop!” How cool is that? I haven’t purchased it yet, but what a lovely scent. I love the smell of fabric shops, or at least, most of them! I have to admit, I’ve been in a few that didn’t smell great, but I’m sure they probably just needed to light one of these candles! Ha!

This candle made me think, though. If you could make a candle to smell like a place that you love, what would it be? Where would you choose? For me, it would be an old library. Not a modern one. But the libraries we went in a long time ago. They just smelled like books, pages, ink, and old buildings. It was glorious. No computers, electronics. Just an old library with a card catalog. That’s the smell I want. If I could get one that smells like my Grandma’s house, I would buy one of those too! I am definitely adding the Fabric Shop candle to my cart. I’ll let you know if they make one labeled “Old Library” or “Grandma’s House.”
The other thing that caught my eye while I was cruising around on Missouri Star’s website was this new line from Edyta Sitar at Laundry Basket Quilts for Andover Fabrics – it’s called Poppy Seeds! How adorable are these fabrics? These are blenders that would work with so many different quilts and colorways. They are available in the adorable precuts below, but they are also available in yardage. I’m ordering some to add into my Farmer’s Wife quilt. I am tempted to start another quilt though and use the fat quarter bundle. Love love love!

That’s all I have room for today, friends. I hope you all make time for at least a few stitches – it’s a wonderful way to escape into our happy place. ‘Til next time, happy sewing!
