Boro is a style of patchwork born in Japan. The farming class in the 19th century salvaged textiles and made repairs using scraps out of necessity. Each boro made over time was unique with many shades of colors and a variety of textures because of the layered scraps.
While largely forgotten in the mid-20th century, boros have since made a comeback through the help of cultural historians and modern Japanese fashion brands. The layered and mended patchwork of vintage boros represents an important part of the country's history. Moda Fabrics celebrates that history with this by-the-yard woven fabric. Use it to mix and match to make a DIY wardrobe, accessories, home décor items, and more.
